FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Handgun or Pistol to take your class?

No. Handguns are provided in our class fee for you to use. This allows our students to try several different styles and sizes and also doesn't require them to spend money on a firearm they may not like in the end. We do suggest you train with the firearm you would like to carry, if you have one.

How Long is the Class?

The class length is approximately 8 hours. This is split between classroom, range and break time. Class is completed same day. PointBlank has a private indoor range and classroom. Breaks are taken throughout the day. Food and beverages are also provided at no additional cost.

Why is your Class Length Approximately 8 Hours?

We believe that every student deserves a high quality class. A longer class length gives us the ability to work hands on with each student, and answer all questions. There are hundreds of main topics to cover and it wouldn't be possible to get through all of that valuable information in a shorter time. Due to the length of your permit, you deserve to get the best info possible to keep yourself safe and legal.

What Does Your Class Cost?

Our class fee is $125.00 and is all inclusive. That means we include ALL of the following at NO additional cost to you:

  • Lunch
  • Beverages
  • Pistol / Handgun
  • Ammunition
  • Ear and Eye protection
  • MN Permit to Carry Certificate
  • FL Permit to Carry Certificate
  • Heated Indoor Range Time
  • Classroom Time
  • Multiple Instructors

  • Visa
  • MasterCard

  • Discover
  • Checks or Debit Cards
  • Cash
  • PointBlank Gift Certificates

Where Do You Shoot?

We have a Private Indoor Range that is heated. This is located in the same building as our Classroom.

How Often Are Classes Scheduled?

Our MN Permit to Carry classes run every month, all year round. At a minimum we have classes every two weeks. At peak times we do classes up to 5 days a week.

How Big is the Class Size?

The maximum class size for our Carry Class is 13. We do not like to do larger class sizes as our goal is to provide a high quality class, not high quantity.

Do You Offer Private Classes?

Yes. We offer private group classes. If you have a group of people looking to take a carry class but are new shooters or nervous about the process having a custom private class can help.

Can My 18 Year Old Take the Class?

Some parents would like to get their responsible kids into shooting however, MN only issues permits to carry to those 21 or older. At PointBlank we allow 18 year old students in our permit class, accompanied by their parent(s). However to obtain their carry permit they need to comeback and retake our class when they turn 21, at no additional charge. This is beneficial for a few reasons:

  • These young students get earlier access to a safe and controlled environment, with their family present.
  • After they turn 21, we do not charge for the second class fee. We run the students through the full class again.
  • They can learn about the legal system and it's intricacies at a young age.

If you feel your 18 year old is responsible and they are interested in learning about obtaining their permit to carry, proper handgun safety and self defense laws. Contact us to schedule a class.
